Wrapping up the inaugural America One Racing Foiling Camp in Pensacola

The first annual America One Racing (A1R) Foiling Camp, powered by American Magic, took place October 6-9, in Pensacola, FL.  This collaboration between A1R, American Magic, Quantum Racing and the Pensacola Yacht Club brought together more than 40 talented sailors from across the country together for a high-level training opportunity in Wingfoil, Nacra 15F, Formula Kite, IQ foil and Waszp classes.

“Everyone is excited to help this next generation of US athletes, who are at the cutting edge of our evolving sport”, said America One Racing High Performance Director Leandro Spina. “Our foundational belief in collaborative training was on full display in Pensacola last week. Not only the athletes and coaches within each class, but the synergy and interaction between the classes is something we know will accelerate the learning curve for all.”

With the help of American Magic - the America’s Cup Team representing the USA - Pensacola is transforming itself into a mecca for high-performance sailing in the US, and this camp represents a significant milestone in that process.  The convergence of high level coaching, technical, and program support that A1R, American Magic, and Quantum Racing provides is hugely beneficial to these young athletes in their quest for foiling excellence.

“It is insane to think that this past weekend I have been in attendance at an America One Racing foiling Camp”, says Sara Shumanis, Nacra 15F sailor.  “It was a pleasure meeting and working with new coaches and having such a big role in this camp, as it feels like this is only the start of something big. I had an amazing time working with all the coaches and sailing out on the water. Thank you to everyone who made this the experience it was. I am beyond grateful.”

Fiona Wilde, program director of Wilde Wind & Water, coach, 3xSUP World Champion, and WingFoil Champion said: “We just wrapped up the first America One Racing Camp with the foiling classes. To have so much talent here, pooling information and learning from one another really drives that excellence that America One is striving for. I’m very honored to be a part of it, and looking forward to seeing where the future goes with America One. I think it’s going to go to a very exciting and promising place. From an athlete and a coach standpoint, this is the future.”
