America One Racing Athletes Test Olympic Waters at Long Beach OCR

Long Beach, CA – July 2025 – America One Racing (A1R) athletes took an important step on the road to the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games, competing in the Long Beach Olympic Classes Regatta (OCR). This event brought together some of the world’s top sailors and gave our team the chance to race on the same waters that will host the Games in three years.

A1R athletes in the 49er, 49erFX, Formula Kite Men, and ILCA 6 classes faced an elite international fleet, with a selection of past World Champions and Olympic medalists coming to Long Beach for this first test of the quad. The ILCA 6 fleet was stacked as usual, while some of the other classes had a smaller but elite medal-race type of style in the competition. For the A1R athletes this event was part of a larger mission: to build a world-class campaign for 2028.

“This was definitely more than just a regatta,” noted A1R Head Coach Charlie McKee. “We are starting to create the environment and the mindset needed to succeed. Being here, knowing the medal race will be happening three years from now makes it all pretty real for the athletes.”

Alamitos Bay Yacht Club and Long Beach Yacht Club put on an excellent event, and Long Beach reliably delivered with great conditions, varied wind and sea states, and a full complement of races.

America One Racing continues to push forward with determination, focus, and teamwork, ensuring our athletes are ready to represent at the highest level when the Olympic Games come to home waters in Los Angeles.
