America One Racing Makes Its Mark at the Wingfoil World Championships

The inaugural Wingfoil World Championships have just concluded in the beautiful city of Cagliari, Italy. The fastest-growing class in sailing delivered 21 races across five days of intense competition, showcasing the future of foiling at its very best.

Since 2024, America One Racing has believed in this class as a unique pathway to develop foiling skills for young talents. Simply being on the start line of the first-ever Worlds, alongside the most dedicated athletes of our program, was already a milestone achievement. Our squad embraced the challenge fully, and their performances spoke for themselves.

  • Sean Herbert (NZL) produced a remarkable comeback in the medal series to step onto the podium with a bronze medal.

  • JP Lattanzi (Hawaii) sailed strongly into 12th place. Despite setbacks from several crashes that kept him out of the top 8 medal series, JP impressed us all by pushing beyond his comfort zone.

  • Kai Mirel ( California) qualified for the Gold Fleet and secured 19th overall. His progress over the past six months has been spectacular, and it is inspiring to see how high-performance sport is shaping him both as an athlete and as a person.

  • Parker Colantuono (San Francisco), coach of the San Francisco Yacht Club, joined the squad for his first international Wingfoil regatta. We are thrilled Parker had the chance to learn alongside the team and look forward to his presence at upcoming training camps.

  • Maxi Nores (Miami) is proud of his rapid progression. Only a year ago, he was still mastering basic gybes. His contribution to the squad, on and off the water, has been invaluable, particularly in sharing his windsurfing expertise.

Next Steps: From Lessons to Performance

The World Championships provided invaluable insights into the evolving demands of Wingfoil racing—racecourse dynamics, tactical positioning, foil efficiency, and the mental adaptability required to perform across changing wind and sea states. These lessons will directly shape the next phase of America One Racing’s training program.

In the coming months, A1R will host a series of domestic training blocks designed to reinforce these learnings:

    • Technical focus sessions on start-line execution, transitions, and speed modes under pressure.

    • Data-driven performance reviews integrating GPS analysis, video debriefs, and foil tuning protocols.

    • Collaborative training camps bringing together our U.S.-based athletes from California, Miami, and Hawaii, leveraging shared equipment and performance systems to accelerate learning.

    • Talent development initiatives introducing new youth athletes to the Wingfoil program, building depth ahead of the next World Cup in Brazil.

Our partnership with F4 Foils has gone far beyond equipment—it has become a true collaboration in innovation, testing, and performance development that continues to elevate our athletes’ understanding of foiling dynamics.

These camps will set the foundation for improved consistency, decision-making, and physical resilience—key ingredients for success on the global stage.

As America One Racing continues its mission to develop world-class foiling athletes, this milestone in Cagliari marks both a celebration of progress and a springboard for what comes next.
