A1R and F4 Foils Turn Collaboration into World Cup Gold

Sean Herbert’s first Wingfoil Racing World Cup victory in Sardinia is a proud milestone for America One Racing Foiling Pipeline and our close collaboration with F4 Foils. It reflects sustained work in a rapidly evolving class and a team culture Sean embraces: pursuing excellence while sharing his knowledge with our upcoming talent.

That momentum was already building at the U.S. Nationals in San Francisco, where Sean, Kai Mirel and Parker Colantuono shared the podium. Now they are bringing that competitive drive to the international fleet. Kai and Parker qualified for Gold Fleet in Sardinia, gaining valuable experience against seasoned competitors as our squad continues closing the gap.

Our partnership with F4 Foils connects athletes and coaches directly with designers and manufacturers through testing, feedback and refinement. Combining racing experience with engineering expertise helps turn lessons from the water into equipment improvements. Speed, control, handling and consistency all matter—and our athletes gain the technical understanding to contribute to that development.

A1R’s academy athlete and Formula Wingfoil sailor JP Lattanzi coached the event, bringing careful attention to equipment and racing. Using new analysis tools, he helped the squad identify opportunities and improve each day. With a full year of data and experience now available, we have a stronger foundation to continue developing with F4 and enter 2027 with greater confidence.

Next month, A1R’s travel team of 15 athletes heads to the X15 World Championships in Ibiza, Spain, November 4–8, adding another valuable international experience to our broader wingfoil pathway.

For 2027, we envision a domestic tour connecting regional hubs, training, racing and international travel teams. Wingfoil racing remains a core focus of our Foiling Pipeline, supported by expert coaching, equipment access and shared knowledge.

We will close the year with our Annual Foiling Camp in Pensacola, bringing together more than 50 athletes and our A1R Foiling Pipeline staff to build on this progress.

Sean’s victory gives our young athletes something powerful to aim for. With committed teammates, expert coaching and partners like F4 Foils helping turn ideas into performance, we are building the conditions for more of them to get there. The ambition for 2027 is clear: keep learning together, keep raising the standard and give the next generation every opportunity to compete at the front.
